The most interesting sites of Cracow
Old Town + Wawel Castle
The medieval buildings of the Old Town, some of which date back to the 10th and 11th centuries, have survived intact to this day. Each historical period left its mark on the city in the form of many objects, like churches, squares and tenements, some of which are considered to be historic sites of outstanding universal value.
Jewish Quarter - Kazimierz
It once used to be a separate town, founded by Casimir III the Great in 1335. Nowadays, the district, where Polish and Jewish cultures coexisted for centuries, is fashionable, inspiring and popular among the artistic bohemia of Cracow and tourists alike.
Former Ghetto
The Cracow Ghetto was established in 1941 as part of the Podgórze district. Three thousand Poles were resettled from the 20h area and in their place fifteen thousand Jews were crowded in. The ghetto was encircled with a high wall and could be entered through four gates.
